Stone Edge Farm

Abundant organic gardens and vineyards grace the artful surroundings and stunning architecture at Stone Edge Farm in Sonoma, where fine artisanal wines are produced along with “extra virgin” olive oil. The beautifully designed private estate–featured widely in national and local publications–may be toured by appointment only by emailing Culinary Director, John McReynolds.    Photos Copyright: Alice Joyce

It’s clear the farm’s organic horticulture, cultivation of heirloom crops, sustainable practices, and biodiversity enhance the grapes produced by the small winery. Stroll the grounds and you’ll come upon a testament to the rocky, porous soil: a form constructed from stones gathered from the site.

The inaugural release of Stone Edge Farm Cabernet Sauvignon boasts a rich complexity, garnering a Gold Medal at the San Francisco International Wine Competition: This 2006 vintage is blended exclusively from the estate’s certified organic Stone Edge Farm and Mount Pisgah vineyard, in French oak barrels

  • I would love to spend a day at Stone Edge Farm! What an idyllic setting with so much to see and appreciate. Too bad I am on the opposite side of the country, but I enjoyed your photo tour.

  • Dear Alice, What a perfect trip it would be to visit this artisan winery and be able to talk with the winemakers about their produce. And, all in such beautiful surroundings. From what you write, these people are clearly passionate about their wines and wine making and I am sure that this will be evident in their produce.

  • Hey Alice, a very nice place. Especially love that Pyramid and the Willow Fence :-D

  • Bom

Wine in that setting? Sounds good to me. I’ve never been to Sonoma. I’ve only been to Napa and that was over a decade ago. This makes me want to start saving up for a trip to the West Coast.

  • Love the patterned moss! Looks like a really fun place to visit. Just wish I didn’t have to go through San Francisco to get there…

  • I am so glad I stopped in. This was a wonderful tour of the most unique landscaping. The moss path, the pyramid, the willow fence, and those tree…Ahhh. I would love to visit and have a stroll down through the arbor.

  • Dear Alice, What a beautiful setting for a vineyard! I love the willow fence and the arbors. The moss walkway is incredible. Thanks for taking us there. Pam

  • Gorgeous farm Alice! Those trees that look like topiaries … I wonder what they are… willow like foliage. Stunning! What a wonderful tour you must have had and a tasting too. Yummy! So glad you finally got rain! ;>)
